Hello fellow Heart of Illinois Members -- Greetings from Aurora  and Happy 2012!
My name is Michelle Glosser and I am the Heart of Illinois Nomination and Election Chair. I want to HIGHLY encourage each one of you to stop and reflect on who you would like to see active on the SGMP Heart of Illinois Chapter Board of Directors for 2012-2014.  Even consider nominating yourself.  Yes, you may do that, also!   I used to be intimidated with the process-what if I was nominated and didn't collect enough votes?  That's embarrassing, right?  NAH, we all know SGMP is a close knit, comfortable group and we all want what's truly best for our chapter.  So, get out of your comfort zone, nominate someone you respect and envision doing a great job for SGMP. If you have any questions on completing the forms, please DO NOT hesitate to call or email me.
OPEN NOMINATION PERIOD:  begins Monday, January 9 and closes Friday, January 20, 2012.  Voting will be conducted via SURVEY MONKEY on Monday, February 20.

LOCAL CHAPTER / SGMP HEART OF ILLINOIS CHAPTER: We are lucky to have a local chapter serving Springfield and the surrounding area! SGMP Heart of Illinois Chapter meets on a monthly basis in Springfield, Illinois to allow for our government meeting planners and suppliers to build meeting planning skills while networking with others! SGMG Heart of IL is celebrating 21 years locally and 30 years nationally. NOW until December 31, 2011, all new "Planners" may join for the first year at $30.00.

SGMP - Why would I join SGMP?

As a member of the Heart of Illinois SGMP Chapter you will be able to:

  • Expand your knowledge and understanding of government meetings through monthly education programs, special events and by attending the national conference centering on professional and personal development.

  • Get connected with others in the government meeting industry. Meet others that do your job and those that can help make your job easier. Networking opportunities abound allowing chapter members to increase contacts and professional resources.

  • Stay on the cutting edge with updates on the latest in the government meeting industry through the informational and educational resources provided in the Heart of Illinois newsletter, SGMP's nationally distributed industry magazine Advantage Magazine, national website http://sgmp.org and http://www.sgmp-illinois.org, the Heart of Illinois Chapter website.

  • Get involved and become an active member! It is as simple as attending a monthly educational and networking luncheons or breakfasts. Step it up by volunteering on a committee of your choice.
